We all know and love Shrinky Dinks, those pieces of plastic art that shrink all up to make cute little play things!
Everyone knows Shrinky Dinks make fun and adorable jewelry, but here are three more creative ways you and your children can use your Shrinky Dinks creations:
1. Cupcake Toppers – Shrinky Dinks usually come in themed sets like the adorable Shrinky Dinks On the Move set that features motorcycles, trucks, and cars. Find a set that fits your party’s theme, and color and bake your pieces. Then place a glue dot on the back of each piece, and attach a toothpick. Then just slide it in to the top of your cupcakes, and you’ve got easy and quick party themed cupcake toppers!
2. Decorative Magnets – Most kids love to play with magnets. My four-year-old and eight-year-old are always playing with the magnets on the fridge. Why not create a themed magnet play set?! Take a themed Shrinky Dinks set like the Shrinky Dinks Pirates and attach them to small magnets. You can get the magnetic sheets that have the adhesive on them, or use glue dots to attach small round magnets to the back of your pieces. Instant decorative magnets!
3. Zipper Pulls – I love the cute Shrinky Dinks sets that have the different body parts attached by jump rings like the Shrinky Dinks Robots. Attach these to a zipper and you’ve got the cutest zipper pulls! I do recommend using stringer jump rings for durability. Luke loves his new robot zipper pull!
